David Haw


David D. Haw, 61, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday afternoon, August 13, 2016 at Zusman Hospice – Wexner Heritage Village, Columbus. He was born on February 1, 1955 in Bellefontaine to the late Bruce and Elizabeth Madlyn (Evans) Haw. David was also preceded in death by a sister Margaret “Peggy” Culp, and a dear cousin Allan J. Devine.

David was a 1973 graduate of Bellefontaine High School where he was the Vice-President of his class and received a varsity letter in football. He worked in Quality Control at the Honda - Anna Engine Plant, and retired after 26 years. An avid sports fan, David loved the Bellefontaine Chieftains and enjoyed watching the Reds, Bengals, Browns, Buckeyes and Cavs play. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2166, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1080, Loyal Order of Moose – Indian Lake Lodge #1533 and the Bellefontaine Kiwanis.

David was a very loyal person who loved his community. With several friends, he co-founded and also coached the Little Chiefs Football program and later was also President of the organization. He served on Bellefontaine City Council for twenty years. David was a member of Bellefontaine First United Presbyterian Church.

David is survived a brother Charles F. Haw of Gahanna; a sister, Betsy (Gordon) Schaechterle of Collins, Ohio; nephew Eddie Schaechterle and niece Emily Schaechterle; and several cousins.

Friends may call at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Bellefontaine on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4-7pm. Pastor Rob Fulton will officiate the funeral service on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 11:30am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
