David G. Karibo

David G. Karibo, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born in Bellefontaine on November 2, 1940, the son of the late John Martin and Eleanor Marie (Smith) Karibo. He was also preceded in death by an infant son Michael, a sister, Marci Harrod and a brother, John Karibo.

On July 2, 1966, he married the former Linda Heilman, and she survives along with their two sons, Chris (Kathy) Karibo of Houston, TX, and Jon (Carrie) Karibo of Cincinnati, two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Brooklyn Karibo, and several nieces and nephews.

David was a 1960 graduate of Bellefontaine High School where he excelled in athletics. He went on to Bowling Green State University, was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. He worked for Super Foods / Nash Finch until his retirement. After retirement, he began working again with Ritter Brothers / Doral Packaging. Following his second retirement, he and Linda then enjoyed each winter in Marco Island, Florida for the next 15 years.

David was a member of The Order of Symposiarch’s of America, Bellefontaine Chapter, former President of the Bellefontaine Athletic Boosters Club, as well as serving on the Bellefontaine Parks Board. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and was a proud “Papa” to his grandchildren. He was a passionate Notre Dame football and Cleveland Guardians baseball fan.

Father Shawn Landenwitch will officiate a private memorial service for the family. Burial will be at a later date in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
