David Lee Stephens, age 67, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday evening, October 16, 2014 at his home.

He was born in Fostoria, Ohio January 15, 1947, to the late Dale and Pauline (Staley) Stephens. Dave was also preceded in death by his sister, Dalene Barnett.

On August 12, 1967, Dave married the former Sandra Spackey in Jerry City, Ohio and she survives in Bellefontaine. He is also survived by daughters Kimberly Kay Yoder of Bellefontaine and Michelle Denise (Peter) Blosser of Augusta, Georgia; a son, Scott David Stephens of Bellefontaine and two granddaughters, Kayla Stephens and Olivia Blosser.

Dave was the director of Camp Cotubic for twenty eight years where he was known to thousands as “Uncle Dave.” Prior to becoming camp director, Dave was a Pastor for the United Brethren in Christ denomination and served churches in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Ohio.

Dave was a member of the Ohio Christian Camp Board, the Christian Camp International Board of Directors and the Bellefontaine Bowling Association. He was also a member of the Quest Community Church in West Liberty, Ohio.

Dave enjoyed being on Indian Lake on his pontoon boat with a fishing pole in his hand. He also loved his bowling friends at TP Lanes, where he bowled for twenty seven years.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bellefontaine from 4 to 9 P.M. Pastor Bill Walker will officiate the funeral service Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at 10 A.M. at the church with one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service. A private family interment will take place at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Wayne, Ohio.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
