David R. Varian

David R. Varian, 66, of Kenton, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Thursday evening, November 10, 2022, at Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.

David was born in Clifton, West Virginia, on November 1, 1956, to the late Charles A. and Geraldine J. (Lee) Varian.  He married Brenda L. Workman on December 26, 1975, in Pt. Pleasant, WV, and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2003.

David is survived by daughter Amy L. (Mike O’Brien) Varian of Bellefontaine; grandchildren: Austin A.R. (Destiny N. Armstrong) Varian of Huntsville, and Sondra J. Little of Pennsylvania; siblings: Ray G. (Garnet) Varian of Mason, WV, Esther V. Bacon, Alberta L. Major, and Charlotte A. Ault, all of New Haven, WV; and Charles A. (Deone) Varian, Jr. of Bellefontaine; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; and his faithful companion and friend – his dog, Gonzo. 

David served honorably in the US Army for 14 years, and was stationed in Korea, Germany, and Hawaii.  He later worked as a bridge inspector in West Virginia and Pennsylvania and was also a security supervisor.  David enjoyed hunting, listening to music, cooking and spending time with his family.

In David’s words: “Knowledge is power.”  He was a loving father, husband, and granddad (pap), David was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  He was adored by all his nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 10am – 12noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where the funeral will be held at 12noon.  Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery with military rites provided by members of the Logan County Honor Guard.
