Debra Eileen Van Voorhis, 62, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 6:57 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Ayden Healthcare of Belle Springs in Bellefontaine, Ohio. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on November 9, 1962, a daughter of the late Owen “Bud” Van Voorhis and Mary Susan (Castle) Van Voorhis. In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Kyle Van Voorhis, and sister-in-law, Delena Salyer Van Voorhis.
Debra was deeply family-oriented, frequently checking in with her loved ones and cherishing the time spent together. Her affection was not limited to her human family; over the years, she also loved many cats, each of whom added joy and comfort to her life.
She is survived by her sister, Cindy (Mark) Oppy; brothers, Kelly (Kim) Van Voorhis, Mike Van Voorhis, and Eric Van Voorhis; nephews, Mark Oppy II, Ben Van Voorhis, and Joe Van Voorhis; and nieces, Wendy Oppy, Jenni Hesser, and Sally Jo Rister; and many great nieces, nephews, and even a few great great nephews and nieces.
Debra found joy in simple pleasures; she loved to watch movies, draw, and color various pictures, and sit outside in the spring, enjoying the sunshine and the multitude of scents. These hobbies provided her with great comfort and peace, reflecting her appreciation for life’s beauty.
Debra was a life-long member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Bellefontaine.
Debra’s life was a testament to the power of family bonds and the simple joys of daily pleasures. Her memory will be cherished and preserved within the hearts of those who know her. During her time spent at Belle Springs she made many friends with other residents and staff.
