Delmar D. Cox, age 91, of West Liberty, Ohio went to be with the Lord Sunday evening, May 10, 2020 at Hospice of Central Ohio in Columbus, Ohio.
Delmar was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio October 25, 1928, to the late William G. and Laura (Foughty) Cox. He was also preceded in death by six brothers; four sisters; sons, Michael Cox and Delmar “Dean” Cox Jr.; a son-in-law, Joe Shoemaker and three grandsons, John Adams, Matthew Cox Jr. and Steven Cox.
Delmar married Tempa L. Holycross August 6, 1949, in Greenup, Kentucky and she survives in West Liberty. He is also survived by their children, Larry (Judi) Cox of Alabama, Susan (Vern) Yelton of Huntsville, Ohio, Juanita Shoemaker of Rushsylvania, Ohio, Judy (Bob) Culp of Rushsylvania, Deb (Greg) Vickers of Bellefontaine, Jerry A. Cox of Bellefontaine and Terry B. Cox of Bellefontaine; one hundred thirteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary E. Weber of Bellefontaine, Phyllis A. Burkhammer of Russells Point, Ohio and Betty J. Cox of Celina, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
Delmar worked for O.M. Scotts Fertilizer for many years before retiring. He then went to work at Acrux Security and retired again at the age of 80. Delmar enjoyed his family and loved to get everybody laughing. He was a member of the Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield, Ohio.
Due to the current pandemic restrictions, there will be no services at this time. A celebration of Delmar’s life will be held at a later date.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
