DeVelva A. Graves, 86, of Zanesfield, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at Logan Acres. She was born October 25, 1922, in Logan County to the late Ora & Mabel Wilgus Garman.
On August 30, 1943, she married Fred “Bus” Graves Jr. in Covington, Kentucky, and he preceded her in death June 20, 1998. She is also preceded in death by a stepson, Freddie Graves; 2 brothers, Max & Kenneth Garman; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Tanger Graves. Surviving is a son, Donald L. Graves of Brooksville, Florida; 2 daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Stewart and Christy Stanley both of Zanesfield; 3 grandchildren, Jason Stanley, Jeremy (Jennifer) Stanley and Bethany (Jason) Buck; 3 great grandchildren, Gabe, Caleb & Becca; 1 step grandchild, Scott Graves; sister-in-law, Irene Garman; and numerous extended family and friends.
She worked at C.J. Laundry & Dry Cleaning and Hardin Machine & Screw. She was a 1940 Bellefontaine High School graduate and a member of the Senior Citizen Group II. She enjoyed bowling for 50 years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. She loved gardening, baking, playing cards, country music and John Wayne.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 P.M. on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where the funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 16, 2009. Burial will follow in the North Greenfield Cemetery near East Liberty, Ohio.
