Dewey VanHoose III, 52, of Canton, Ohio formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 5, 2011, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born July 16, 1959 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Dewey VanHoose Jr., who preceded him in death in 1996 and Janet (Hoffman) VanHoose who survives in Bellefontaine. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Timothy VanHoose in 1969.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, David Edward VanHoose of Canton and Audra Renee VanHoose of Columbus, Ohio; their mother, Valli VanHoose of North Canton; a step-son, Jay Withee of Cleveland, Ohio and a step daughter, Steffani Withee of Canton; his former wife and friend, Roseanna Pizzino of Jackson Township, Ohio; his siblings, Ray (Maureen) VanHoose of Carmel Valley, California, Tammy (David) Overholser of Bellefontaine and Corey (Renae) VanHoose of Zanesfield, Ohio; special nieces, Tara (Rick) Zedeker, April (Josh) Cummings and Jenna VanHoose; a great niece, Madie Jo Zedeker, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dewey had lived in Jackson Township since 1981. He was a 1977 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and 1981 graduate of Ohio University College of Business. He was a consultant and former President of Sky Bank in Canton. He was a member of the St. Paul's Catholic Church in North Canton, and the Brookside Country Club. He was a former member of the Canton Jaycees, and was a former board member of both Canton Chamber of Commerce and Jackson Belden Chamber of Commerce. He was an avid golfer and bowler and enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was a kind, loving, giving man, a beloved Dad and a friend to all. Dewey treated everyone with dignity and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday, December 9, 2011 at 11 A.M. at the Heitger Funeral Home, Jackson Chapel 5850 Wales Road Northwest in Massillon, Ohio with Rev. Doug Patton officiating. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. prior to the service.
Pastor Jonathan Bull will officiate a 1:00 P.M. memorial service Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where friends may call from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Dewey's honor, to a scholarship fund for a Bellefontaine High School senior to attend Ohio University, the school that Dewey cherished.
