Dominick Iannarone

Dominick Anthony Iannarone, 80, of Conroe, Texas and formerly of Detroit Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at his home. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut October 27, 1930, to the late Nicholas and Francesca (Sauzillo) Iannarone. He was also preceded in death by his son Nicholas Anthony “Tony” Iannarone, nieces Barbara Elder, Roselynn Hicks and nephew William Elder.

He married the former Emma L. Elder July 24, 1964 in Lewistown, Ohio, and she preceded him in death June 5, 1999.

A veteran of the United States Air Force, he was an air policeman for 4 years. Following his service to his country, Dominick worked as a machinist at Rockwell International and Boeing. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport, Connecticut and enjoyed collecting coins, cook books, knives, and letter openers. He also enjoyed traveling across the United States and was also a member of the American Legion Post #410 in Lakehills, Texas, where he served as chaplain for four years before moving to Conroe, Texas.

Dominick is survived by a granddaughter Jessica Piikkila and great-granddaughter Rebecca Piikkila both of Houston, Texas; granddaughter Jacqueline Piikkila of Tuscon, Arizona and grandson David A. Moove of Russiaville, Indiana; nieces, Leona (John) Edwards of Conroe, Texas, Audrey Elder of Ocala, Florida, Pamela Kearney and family of Dayton, Ohio, Patricia (Nick) Powers and family of Westborough, Massachusetts; and nephews, Chuck Elder of Ocala, Florida, James Lacey and family of Cunningham, Tennessee, Morris Hicks Jr. of Dunnellon, Florida, Howard (Kristal) White of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kevin White of Conroe, Texas; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 2 P.M. at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio, with Rev. Patrick Sheridan officiating. The Logan County Veterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
