Don Kenneth Miller came into this world October 26, 1936. He departed this world on Thursday, June 18, 2015. He was the son of Huber K. & Martha G. Roby Miller. Important in Don’s life were God and saving souls, family, farming, sheep and playing his saxophone.

When Don was 9, he set a goal of never missing Sunday school. He kept perfect attendance for 69 years.

On September 22, 1957, he married Virginia Cole. In 1961, Don and Virginia bought a farm south of Pickrelltown. At one time, they had a flock of 1,000 ewes, which was the largest flock east of the Mississippi River. They were on a tour schedule with the Smucker Sisters, having school groups, senior citizens, etc. tour their farm.

In 1984, their son, Tim and his wife, Lynn, began farming with Don and Virginia. Now two of their sons, Matt and Steve, also farm with them.

The Miller farm was featured twice on Ed Johnson’s TV show, Ag Country, and was three times on Logan County’s Drive-It-Yourself Tour. The Miller sheep farm was featured in the Sunday Columbus Dispatch magazine in 1971.

Don gave coyote talks around the USA using slides he made of our coyote problems. For several years he was a member of the American Sheep Association’s Predator Control Committee.

Don was a long-time member of the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association and president; secretary of the Ohio Young Farmers; a Gideon, giving talks at many churches and always playing his saxophone at them; member of McKee’s Creek Chapel; Sunday school teacher for many years; Monroe Township Trustee Clerk for 30 years; president of the Logan County Township Trustees; named honorary member of Rushsylvania Alumni Association and Logan County Sheep Association; received the Logan County Soil Conservation Award; was a member of the Farm Bureau board; was Logan County’s Jaycee Young Farmer of the Year. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Farm Bureau Council and Ohio Farmers Union. While teaching, he had Young and Adult Farmer Groups and FFA. He also was 4-H Advisor.
