Donald R. “Don” Giles, 58, of Quincy, Ohio, passed away at 12:35 A.M. Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home. He was born in Alabama July 15, 1955, to the late William Ralph and Flora Helen (Walker) Giles. He was also preceded in death by his brother Tony Giles, and a step-brother, Robbie Williams.
On June 21, 1975, he married the former Audrey Cook and she survives. He is also survived by his three sons, Charles Matthew Giles of Quincy, Joshua D. Giles of Sidney, Ohio, and Eric Christopher James (Sally) Giles of DeGraff, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chelsea, Shelby, Riley and Shailyn Giles; a brother, Bill (Cindy) Giles of Lakeview, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; many great friends and a special companion, Baxter.
Don was a member of the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren where he had been baptized. He held a private pilot's license and loved to fly his airplane. Don was a master machinist of steel fabrication by trade. He enjoyed restoring trucks and cars, but most especially had a passion for restoring antique tractors and fabricating parts for them. His workmanship of sheet metal fabrication for the restoration of antique tractors earned him recognition all over the United States. He was also a member of the Logan County Antique Tractor Association.
Bob Covault will conduct a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
The funeral arrangements were in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
