Donald Horn Jr

Donald “Donnie” Horn Jr., 68, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio after a long line of illnesses. He was born in Bellefontaine December 28, 1941 to the late Thelma Ruth (Guy) Horn and Donald M. Horn Sr., who survives.

On April 23, 1983, he married his wife of twenty eight years, Sandy (Abrams) Horn in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with their children, Tara (Ronald) Levan Jr., Michael (Lori) Horn, Lori (Andy) Brewer and Kayce Horn; his grandchildren, Cami Levan, Alex Brewer, Alyssa Neeley, Rhyan Brewer, Hilary Horn and Haley Horn who all loved him dearly. He was the best grandpa ever. Also surviving is a sister, Cherie Horn and a brother-in-law, Dan (Roxann) Abrams.

A 1960 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bellefontaine, Don was a councilman at large for the City of Bellefontaine and served on several committees.

Don worked for Tutor Electric, Horn’s Electric, Varsity Drive Thru and was an accountant for Governor Rhoades in the State House.

Don enjoyed being with his family and his beloved dog, Buckeye. His hobbies included showing his 1972 Chevelle and traveling, and of course, making everyone laugh. He loved telling jokes and brightening everyone’s day. He was always full of life and loved being around people. He also enjoyed eating at McDonald’s with the McDonald’s gang. He was a sports fan of The Ohio State University and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Calling hours will be Friday, November 19, 2010 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 9 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 20, 2010 with Pastor Ed Beale and Gene Marine officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio.
