Donald Gilbert Queen

Donald (Duck) Gilbert Queen, age 78, of Bellefontaine, Ohio peacefully passed away Thursday afternoon, February 3, 2022, at the Dublin Methodist Hospital.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan May 31, 1943, to the late Arnett and Goldie Alma (Dodds) Queen. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Lena Mae Alexander and Annette Prall; brothers: James Queen, Richard Queen, June Alexander, and Raymond Queen.

On March 31, 1970, he married the love of his life, Shirley J. Queen and she survives. He is also survived by daughters: Valerie (Ronald) Burton and Victoria Queen; son, Thomas (Susie) Queen; 9 grandchildren: Eliberto DeLeon III, Aaron (Chelsie Douglas) DeLeon, Veronica (Colt) Guthrie, Sabrina DeLeon, Joshua (Danyel) Queen, Janessa Queen, Zachary Dearwester, Elizabeth Dearwester and Anna Queen; 11 great-grandchildren: Adriana, Exstavia, Aaliya, Aaralyse, Corey, Sebastian, Braxton, Casey, Bryson, Owen, and Parker and many nieces and nephews. 

Don was best known for 2 things: his skills at and love for shooting pool and his goofiness and orneriness that will forever have us all laughing with our memories of him. He loved to fish almost as much as he loved to pick on his patient wife of almost 52 years (who often called him by her special loving nickname for him “Damnit Duck”) Our stories of him will live on for generations through his many family members.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be held two hours prior from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
