Donald Eugene Roach, age 81, of DeGraff, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 at his home. He was born in DeGraff June 20, 1936, to the late Sanford Gail and Helen Ruth (Gates) Roach.
On June 19, 1960, Don married the former LaQuita O. Krisher and she preceded him in death February 22, 2017. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruth McMillen.
Don is survived by his two sons, Curtis (Rebecca) Roach and Scott (Misty) Roach; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Kelli, Matthew, Cody, Courtney and Ashley; a sister, Dorothy Van Buskirk; a brother-in-law, Harvey McMillen and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from DeGraff High School in 1954, Don joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Don attended a trade school where he studied drafting. Don also began working for the United States Postal Service, in both North Dayton and Wright Patterson Air Force base. In 1989, Don was awarded the Dayton Postal Employee of the Year. He also served as a member of the Riverside Local Schools Board of Education. After retiring, Don enjoyed (his God given talent of) carpentry and woodworking. Don and his wife LaQuita built an apartment building in DeGraff which Don continued to operate and maintain.
Don was an active member of the American Legion Post #652, the Shelby County Coin Club, and Boggs Lodge #292 F & AM, where he was a Past Master. Don also served on the Board of Directors for United Midwest Savings Bank.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, as well as brother. He loved his family very much. He enjoyed spending time in his barn working with wood and building furniture with his dog Coco at his side. He also was very active helping others in Logan County with building needs. He also loved mushroom hunting.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff with a Masonic Service beginning at 8:00 P.M.
Pastor Lee Ortman will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 2, 2018 at the funeral home where visitation will be from 10 to 11 A.M.
Burial will follow the funeral service at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff with military rites by the Logan County Veteran's Honor Guard.
The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
