Donna LeVan

Donna June (Hill) LeVan, 89, of Bellefontaine, died on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was one of 260,000 babies born Friday, the 13th of August 1926, her lucky day. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Hill of Huntsville.

She married Leonard O. LeVan on September 29, 1945 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2015 after nearly 70 years of marriage.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Ed) Marsman of Lewis Center, Ohio and her son, Keith (Cathy) LeVan of Rushsylvania. Donna was very proud of her 5 grandchildren, Jamond (Missy) LeVan, Shannon (Clay) Benton, Joseph (Bre) LeVan, Ashley (Dante’) Ferguson, and Januah (Jeff) Anspach; as well as her 9 great grandchildren, Lily and Lauryn LeVan, Tanner, Ty, and Paityn Anspach, Heath, Maggie and Eli Benton, and Ella Ferguson; 4 step-great grandchildren, Chase Anspach, Brandon LeVan, Cameron and Hayley Deitsch; her sister, Kathryn Hill Wright; and sister-in-law, Esther LeVan.

She graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1944 and was a member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine, where she and Leonard were faithful members of the Pilot Class. Donna was a hard working woman and was admired by all who knew her. She worked as a bookkeeper for Tracy Humble Construction and Westinghouse Electric before owning and operating the Graystone Restaurant in West Liberty for many years. In 1955, she started LeVans Tax Service, working from her dining room on a card table. As her tax business grew, she gave up the restaurant in 1972 to devote all her time doing what she loved, TAXES. She was very proud to be an Enrolled Agent with the IRS until her retirement in 2002. Donna and Leonard enjoyed their home in Bradenton, Florida, spending several months there each year until health issues prevented them from returning in 2015.

After Leonard’s death, Donna became a resident of the Homestead at Logan Acres, where she resided until her death. Life without Leonard and leaving her home, of many years, was an adjustment, but she did it with great strength and determination. She enjoyed sewing, word find books, watching CNN, and going to the Friendly Senior Center to play cards and socialize every Wednesday and was grateful for the many friends she made there. We thank those friends for making her feel welcome and part of the “group”.

Donna was blessed many ways during her 32,856 days here on earth, with one of the greatest being the loving care she received from everyone at the Homestead, who enriched her life during the final days. There are no words to thank you all enough.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 1, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. John James will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 with visitation one-hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Huntsville Cemetery.
