Donna Mae Scherer, 85, of Bellefontaine, went to be with her Lord and Savior with her loving family by her side at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at her home. She was born in Urbana, Ohio on February 23, 1930 to the late Forkie and Hattie Mae Wood.
On December 15, 1947 she married Eugene R. Scherer in Ringo, Georgia and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1996. She was also preceded in death by; two sons, Donald Phillip and Harold E. Scherer; a granddaughter, Mickie James; two sisters, Mary Jane Wood and Edith Foster; and two brothers, Alfred and Carl Wood.
Donna Mae is survived by her two children; Barbara (Gerald “Lank” Bargdill) Scherer and William (Pam Clark) Scherer, both of Bellefontaine; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her Teacup Chihuahua “Baby”.
A homemaker, Donna Mae enjoyed cooking, and was well known for her Shadybowl Barbeque, making potato soup with dumplings, and her walnut and chocolate cakes. She especially loved spending time with her family, and her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. The time and effort Samantha Hook spent in helping to care for her grandmother was a testimony of the love Donna Mae’s family had for her.
Pastor David Moore will officiate a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine where visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
