Donna Belle Wilkins, 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Saturday evening, February 23, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine. She was born in Marysville, Ohio February 25, 1925, to the late William and Catheryn (Dunham) Lucas.
She married George W. Wilkins July 1, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio, and he preceded her in death June 6, 1994. Donna was also preceded in death by a brother Albert L. Lucas and sisters Beulah McColloch, Wilma Robson and Emma Stout.
Donna is survived by her children Lawrence P. (Sharon) Wilkins of Indianapolis, Indiana, Bradford C. (Sherry) Wilkins of Bellefontaine, George W. (Jennifer) Wilkins of Bellefontaine, Donn N. (Sheila) Wilkins of Alexandria, Virginia and James E. (Julie) Wilkins of Findlay, Ohio; eleven grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Correthers, Marcus Wilkins, Bo (Sheila) Wilkins, Trisha (Brian) Hawkes, Korie (Kris) Keary, Megan (Johnny) Reynolds, Vanessa Wilkins, Jackie (Rene) Nitsche, Ashton Wilkins, Rebecca Wilkins and Owen Wilkins; nine great-grandchildren, Chase Correthers, Connor Wilkins, Ashley Wilkins, Emily Hawkes, Addyson Hawkes, Eryn Hawkes, Benjamin Keary, Nolan Reynolds and Jack Nitsche; a brother, William E. Lucas of Florida; six sisters, Mary Dearwester of Bellefontaine, Joanne Liles of Belle Center, Ohio, Shirley Sargent of Grants Pass, Oregon, Florence Curtis of Toledo, Ohio, Sharon Deardorff of Rushsylvania, Ohio and H. Kay Taylor of Bellefontaine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was a member of the Bellefontaine First United Methodist Church and the West Mansfield Kings Daughters. She and her husband were caretakers at Camp Mac-O-Chee for twenty three years. She retired from the Montgomery Ward store in Bellefontaine, and was associated with Odd Lots in Springfield, Shastar Rent-to-Own in Bellefontaine and Steve Austin’s Auto Group in Bellefontaine.
Donna loved to travel with friends and family and visited many parts of the world. Visits with friends and family events also were favorite activities for her. Specially planned events for grandchildren were among her many talents and she created wondrous memories for those grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 10:30 A.M.
