Doris Byrd

Doris Ann Byrd, 88, of Jackson Center, passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Sidney. She was born in Shelby County on August 30, 1927 to the late Lauren and G. Avanelle (Ambos) Lenhart. On December 22, 1945 she married Emory L. Byrd and he preceded her in death May 14, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Lenhart.

She is survived by her children, Larry (Victoria) Byrd and Sheila (Dave) Burch, both of Jackson Center; five grandchildren, Alan (Jennifer) Byrd, Penny (Greg) Borchers, Bryan (Keesha) Byrd, Mark (Lindsay) Burch, and Emily (Todd) Ratermann; 12 great grandchildren, Austin and Jacob Borchers, Audrey, Brooke Ann, and Lydia Byrd, Kyle and Julia Burch, Cole, Jared, and Claire Ratermann, Griffin and Jordan Byrd; a sister, Janet Schnelle; a brother, John Lenhart; and many nieces and nephews.

A homemaker, Doris was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center. She enjoyed traveling, eating out and playing cards with her family and friends. Doris loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and attended all their activities.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 3- 6 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center. Pastor Kent Hollis will officiate a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 5, 2015 at the church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson, Ohio.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Jackson Center.
