Biography

Dorothea Grace Headings, 82, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away at 10:25 A.M. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Heartland of Bellefontaine. She was born in Logan County Ohio December 4, 1929, to the late Harry and Linnie (Smucker) Kauffman. Two sisters, Elva Yoder and Ruby Dear, and a brother Delphos Kauffman preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Del) Gratz of Bluffton, Ohio, and Grace (Greg) Kemp of Cavalier, North Dakota, and six grandchildren.

A retired elementary school teacher, she was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church in West Liberty. Dorothea was gifted with many talents, including gardening, singing, playing piano and all types of needlework. She enjoyed traveling, having visited Europe and much of the United States. Her grandchildren were an especially important part of her life.

Pastor Dick Barrett and Pastor Alex Siders will conduct a memorial service Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church in West Liberty. Calling hours are Friday, February 24, 2012 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. A private interment will be held at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice Care or Habitat for Humanity.

The funeral arrangements were handled by the staff of the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty.
