Dorothy Dean Baker, 92, of Ashley, Ohio passed away at 12:54 p.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015 in the home of her niece. She was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on January 6, 1923, the daughter of the late Charlie and Jettie Newell (Oden) Baker.
She had two brothers; Charles and Thomas Gaither Baker and one sister, Mary Frances Baker McAdams all who preceded her to glory. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her niece Nancy Baker.
She graduated from Ardmore High School in Ardmore, Oklahoma on May 26, 1942. She worked for a Munitions plant during the war and then moved to Kansas City, MO. She spent her lifetime working for the Nazarene Publishing House in Kansas City, MO.
She resided in a large four-story old home where many of the girls working at Publishing House lived in apartments. Upon retirement she moved to Arkansas and then Ohio with her sister and her sister's husband.
She lived in Columbus, Bellefontaine, and Ashley, Ohio before moving on to live with the Lord.
She is survived by two sister-in-laws; Ruth Baker of Moscow, ID and Mary Baker of Surprise, AZ. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her greatest joy was reading her Bible every day and wearing her purple shoes.
Her close friends, Kay & Dan Moss will officiate a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 in the Rushsylvania Cemetery.
Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
