Biography

Dorothy L. (Schafer Horn) Brown, 88, of West Liberty, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, at the Green Hills Community in West Liberty.

She was born October 3, 1924, in Lima, Ohio to the late Charles Jacob and Sarah Edna (Tummel) Schafer.

Also preceding her in death was her first husband Harold Horn in 1987, and her second husband, Robert Brown in 1997; a son, Tim Horn in 1980; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Horn in 2012 and Melanie Horn in 1985; a grandson, Matthew Horn in 1985; her siblings and their spouses, Marie (Walter) Master, Beatrice (Carl) Peggs, Mildred (Byron) Gross, Harold (Mary) Schafer, Hellen (Frank) Foust and Fred (Dorothy) Schafer and brother-in-law, Richard Davis.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol (Don) Witter of Bonita Springs, Florida, Deb (Brian) Compton of Springfield, Ohio and Peg (Rick) Hughes of Gwinn, Michigan; three sons, David Horn of Ridgeway, Ohio, Dean (Mary Jean) Horn of West Liberty and Mark (Shelley) Horn of Columbus, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Kate Davis of Lima, Ohio, Alice (Don) Hughes of Vaughnsville, Ohio and Robert (Ilene) Schafer of Lima, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.

A homemaker, and a great baker, Dorothy loved to cook and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her friends too.

Private family services were held.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty assisted the family with the arrangements.
