Dorothy Cunningham

Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Godwin Cunningham, 88, of Sidney, Ohio and formerly of Belle Center, Ohio and Bradenton, Florida, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Fairhaven Shelby County Home in Sidney.

She was born February 15, 1925, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Raymond and Betty (Adams) Godwin.

On February 10, 1941, she married Francis E. Cunningham in Cincinnati, Ohio and he preceded her in death January 1, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Jane Hale and Helen Godwin and a brother, Clarence Godwin; nephews, Butch Mumford, Frank Eugene Cunningham and Clifford Cunningham, Jr.

Surviving is her sister-in-law, Mary Mumford of Botkins, Ohio, who was her friend from the age of 14; nephews and nieces, John Cunningham, Robert Cunningham, Don Mumford, Lois Smith, Henry Hale, Rose Ann Ratliff and Preston Hale.

A homemaker, she was a member of the Belle Center Church of Christ, a life member of the Roundhead Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post #8832, the Women’s Club and Shuffleboard Club at the Manatee Trailer Park in Bradenton, Florida.

She spent her summers and holidays with her niece and nephew, Lois Smith and Butch Mumford. Dottie loved fishing with her husband, playing shuffleboard and taking trips. Her life was dedicated to being a good wife, companion and help mate to her husband. She was a good person and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

A private graveside service will be held at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating.

The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine handled the arrangements for the family.
