Dorothy Mae Gearhart, 95, of Bellefontaine passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Logan Acres Care Center. She was born October 31, 1919 in Berry, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Claude & Lethe (McClain) Latimer.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Gearhart who passed away September 8, 2001; a brother, Forrest Latimer, a sister, Gladys Latimer, an infant daughter and her former husband, Frank Shepard.

She is survived by her two sons; Robert W. (Janice) Shepard of Georgetown, KY and Russell K. (Linda) Shepard of Bellefontaine, her daughter; Dorothy ‘Elaine’ (William) Klausing of Columbus Grove, OH, a step son; Ronald (Carol) Gearhart of Kingwood, TX, two sisters; Sarah N. Timeus and Virginia Langston, both of West Chester, OH, 11 grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy retired from the Copeland Corporation in Sidney, Ohio in 1982. She was a member of the West Mansfield Church of Christ and had belonged to the Mt. Victory Mother’s Club. She enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking, as well as wintering in Florida with her late husband, Clinton, which they had done for 10 years.

Pastor Dean Wasson will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Terre Haute Cemetery, Champaign County.

Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Bellefontaine assisted the family with arrangements.
