Biography

Dorothy A. Martz , 84 of Huntsville passed away at Logan Acres Care Center on Saturday, February 27, 2016 with her husband of nearly 69 years by her side.

She was born June 14, 1931 in Logan County, Ohio, a daughter to the late Homer and Kathryn (Ross) Johnson. Also preceded in death by sisters, Marilyn Martz, Cheryl Beech and Jacqualine Cole and two infant great grandsons.

Dorothy married Earl L. Martz on June 14, 1947 in Bellevue, Kentucky and he survives along with children, Kim (Mike) Glock and Mike (Bev) Martz both of Huntsville, Scott (Melissa) Martz of Columbus, grandchildren Greg (Pat) Martz, Amy (Matt) Burns, Mandy (Steve) Oppy, Brian Glock, Emily Martz and Allison Martz and six great grandchildren, sisters Imogene Maxwell of West Liberty and Patricia Shirk of Bellefontaine.

Dorothy and Earl owned and operated IGA Stores in Huntsville and Jackson Center for over 30 years. She is a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church and a member of Afaeta Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a former volunteer for the United Way.

Funeral services will be on Thursday March 3, 2016 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Bryan Meadows officiating at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral, 321 N Main St. Bellefontaine with visitation two hours prior to service. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
