Dorothy Smith

Dorothy P. Poland Smith, 91, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Heartland of Bellefontaine.

She was born September 3, 1920 in Carey, Ohio, to the late Charles and Bertha (Kistler) Poland.

She had been married to Gary M. Smith and he preceded her in death in 1988. Also preceding her in death were 8 brothers, 2 sisters and a grandson, Daniel Ray Ganson.

Surviving are her children, Barbara (Robert) Searle of Belle Center, Ohio, Dick (Connie) Smith, and Bill Smith, both of Bellefontaine, and Gary Michael (Lesa) Smith of West Mansfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, and 6 nieces and 2 nephews.

Dorothy worked at Silco Dry Cleaners in Bellefontaine and was a member of the First Friends Church of Bellefontaine for sixty two years.

Calling hours are Wednesday, May 2, 2012, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Pastor Casey Storm will officiate the 10:30 A.M. funeral service Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the First Friends Church in Bellefontaine. Interment will be at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, Ohio.
