Dorothy Whisman

Dorothy E. Whisman, 97, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 12:50 A.M. Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Logan Acres Care Center in Bellefontaine.

She was born in Warren County Ohio January 8, 1916, to the late Wilbur W. and Mary E. (Sawyer) Spies. On September 20 1931, she married Wayne Bryant Whisman in Covington, Kentucky and he preceded her in death August 19, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley M. Whisman; a sister, Mary Mayo and three brothers, James, Willard and Russell Spies.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Florence) Whisman of Bellefontaine; two grandchildren, Keith Whisman of Kenton, Ohio and Kathryn Whisman of Tucson, Arizona; two great grandchildren, Danielle Whisman and Cortnie Whisman, both of Kenton; a sister, Martha Decker of Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy retired from I.T.E. in Bellefontaine in 1977, following twenty three years of service. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine and the Bellefontaine Chapter #459 O.E.S. She had also volunteered with the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild for thirty five years and enjoyed traveling with her friend Martha Conn.

Pastor Rob Fulton will officiate the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service starting at 10 A.M. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.

The funeral arrangements were in care of the staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
