Dorothy Zimmel

Dorothy Gertrude Zimmel, 92, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Heartland of Bellefontaine. She was born March 24, 1917, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Charles and Viola (Pickett) Marks.

Dorothy married Charles A. Zimmel in Detroit on July 1, 1935, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1974. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Virginia Zimmel.

Surviving is a daughter, Bonnie (Neil) Shough of Bellefontaine; a son Tex E. Zimmel of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Jane Zimmel of Cincinnati; a sister, Evelyn Drury of Sault Sainte, Michigan; five grandchildren, William, Brian & Jerry Hurley, Tamara Jenkins, and Dana Zimmel; four great grandchildren, Anna, Stephanie, Dylan, and Jennica Hurley; and three great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy, a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a member the Friendship Garden Club and the Senior Citizen Center. She was an avid Bridge player, and also bowled for 35 years.

Rev. Stuart Jenkins will conduct a graveside service at 3:00 P.M. on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
