Douglas Herring

Douglas A. Herring, 60, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio, January 30, 1948, a son of Alberta Vance Herring, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Simon E. Herring.

Also surviving are his wife, the former Lorrie Olson, whom he married February 15, 1984, in Covington, Kentucky.; a daughter, Kimberly Morris of Columbus; a brother, Robert (Josephine) Herring of Fairborn, Ohio; a sister, Vickie (Kerry) Haynes of Douglandville, Georgia.; a son, Daniel (Debbie) Kopp of Austin, Texas; and three grandchildren, Maggie, Lydia and Samuel.

A 1965 Bellefontaine High School graduate, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1971. He was a self-employed retailer who enjoyed trains and railroad history.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery, where the Logan County Honor Guard will conduct the military service.
