Douglas Matt Ragland

Douglas Matt Ragland, 70, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was born in Bellefontaine on February 4, 1953, to the late James S. and Sue (Morris) Ragland. He is also preceded in death by his siblings: Claudia (Bill) Shellenbarger, David Ragland, and Charles “Chuck” Ragland.

He is survived by his siblings: Jill (Carl) Fulmer, Pandora (Robert) Plikerd, and Sam (Janice) Ragland. Matt loved his two brothers-in-law and viewed them both as his own brothers. He is also survived by his special nephew, Chucky Ragland; special friend, Scott MacDonald, who would come over to watch football and give him company; and many nieces and nephews.

Matt was a simple and frugal man but was kind to everyone he met. He and his siblings grew up in the small town of Huntsville and he was a 1972 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He worked at Airstream for over 40 years as a cabinet builder before retiring in 2019. Matt was an avid reader and enjoyed to watch the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an old classic car fanatic and could tell you everything you wanted to know about them. He also liked to listen to rock music.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Huntsville Cemetery.
