Douglas L. Thompson, 86, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Monday, February 20, 2012, at his residence. He was born December 8, 1925 in Mt. Victory, Ohio, to the late Stanley and Myrtle (Creamer) Thompson.
On December 18, 1948, he married Helen James in Covington, Kentucky who survives along with their children, Cheri (Don) Osteen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Phil (Cindy) Thompson, Craig Thompson, and Connie (Bill) Rose, all of Bellefontaine; a sister, Mary (Milt) Easterday of Mansfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren, David Osteen, Mandy Godwin, Karla Furlong, Ryan Thompson, Heather Miller, John and Robin Rose; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Preceding him in death was a granddaughter, Tammy Randall, and a daughter-in-law, Deb Thompson.
Doug was a self-employed contractor. He graduated in 1943 from Mt. Victory High School, was a World WarII Air Force Veteran and was a member of the Mount Victory United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and being with his great granddaughter, Mamie Randall.
Pastor Andy Stahler will officiate the 11:00 A.M. funeral service Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where calling hours are from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2012. Interment will be at the Hale Cemetery in Mt. Victory, Ohio.
