Douglas A. Warner

Douglas A. Warner, 66, of West Liberty and formerly of Bellefontaine, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, July 5, 2020 in Green Hills Care Center, West Liberty.

He was born in Bellefontaine, OH on July 22, 1953, the son of the late Kenneth Pearl and Martha Ellen (Sheeley) Warner.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca “Becky” Warner in 2019.

He is survived by his niece, Megan (Mike) Nicholl of Bellefontaine, several cousins, and “his boys”, Steve Marine, John Martin, Jr. Page, Kretty Barton, and the late Kim Wagner, and his dear friend, Thelma Matthews.

Doug was the biggest kid in school and used his size to intimidate opponents from 4th grade flag football all the way through his senior year.  He was an excellent musician, singer, composer, guitarist, trivia buff, and enjoyed photography.

He was a fixture at The Cracked Pot Studio as he turned to pottery later in life and loved it as well as traveling to art fairs.  He was a die-hard OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan, as his late father was Lou Groza’s college roommate and was also the best man in his parents' wedding.  Doug attended many Browns games with his father.

Doug spent most of his professional life working with adults with developmental disabilities and took after his older sister, Becky in that sense.  While he took some joy in being an argumentative genius, he was a loyal friend to many.  His friends were steadfast in their love for Doug.

Services are being planned for a later date.

The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center is honored to serve the Warner family.
