Dr. Sherry Dee (Stienecker) Meadows, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 of cancer.

She was born on July 5, 1938 in Lima, Ohio the daughter of the late Roger M. and Mary E. (Winget) Stienecker.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll Meadows of West Liberty; daughter, Erin Lynn Smith of Tempe, Arizona; son, Eric McDowell (Allison) Smith of Lewis Center, Ohio; granddaughters, Ashley Smith J.D. of Dublin, Ohio, Chelsea (Mason) Michelson of Westerville, Ohio and Gabrielle & Isabelle Smith of Lewis Center, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Charles Denny (Nancy Jo) Stienecker of Lima; nieces and nephews, Dr. Scott (Rhonda) Stienecker, Ritchie & Sara of Lima, Shelley (Neal) Mulconrey of Beverly Shores, Indiana, Merilee Ziccardi and her sons, Zachary & Jacob of Lima and Andrew (Kelly) Stienecker J.D., Nate & Annie of Matthews, N.C.; step-daughters and families, Anne (Scott) McGrail and their children, Nick & Erin of Springboro, Ohio and Kellen Meadows of Durham, North Carolina, Tricia (Dwayne) McKenzie, Conner, Braden and Kate of Chelsea, Michigan. Also surviving are her in-laws, Dan Williams of Grove City, Ohio, Rick Meadows and Linda Meadows both of Hilliard, Ohio; cousins, Kathy, Amanda & Rick Hopson of Lima, Barb & Al Powell of Springfield, Ohio, Kay & Bill Winget and Jack Winget and family of Valley City, Ohio.

Sherry graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School and then earned her BS, MS and PhD in Psychology, School Psychology, and Study of Exceptional Children and School Administration, respectively at The Ohio State University. Sherry was elected 1958 Homecoming Queen at The Ohio State University.

She was a classically trained pianist and flutist. For many years, she accompanied vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists, and served the music ministry of numerous churches.

Dr. Meadows began her teaching career serving MRDD students in Springfield, Ohio. She then served as a school psychologist in Urbana, was Director of Special Education in Reynoldsburg, Director of Intervention Services in Upper Arlington, and Superintendent of the West Liberty-Salem Schools.

Her interests centered around music activities, golf, and she was a member of a tap dancing group. In her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed winters in Fountain Hills, Arizona. A talented woman of many interests, abilities, and accomplishments, she will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 North Main Street, Bellefontaine. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at the Urbana Methodist Church, 238 North Main Street, Urbana. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in the family plot at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta, Ohio.

Sherry has requested no flowers, but rather donations be made to Top of Ohio Pet Shelter or a humane society of your choice.
