Dr. Warren Estabrook Dodson, age 83, of West Liberty, Ohio passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Green Hills Community in West Liberty.
He was born in Buffalo, New York October 17, 1930, the son of the late Torrey DeWitt and Dorothy (Estabrook) Dodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Torrey DeWitt Dodson Jr. and his sister-in-law and her husband, Joanne and H. Wells Near.
On June 5, 1959 in Princeton, New Jersey, he married the former Nancy Baumgartner and she survives in West Liberty along with their three children, Kathryn (Roy) Hammond of West Liberty, Douglas Warren
(Kathy) Dodson of East Liberty, Ohio and Debra (Lon) Gantz of West Liberty; ten grandchildren, Douglas, Kristian, David (Casey) Hammond, Rebekah, Jacob, and Jessie Dodson, Mackenzie (Ben) Beaghan, Grayson, Meggan, and Madison Gantz; one great grandchild, Ellie Beaghan; a sister-in-law, Carolyn (Bishop George) Bashore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews.
Warren served his country in the United States Army Dental Corps where he was a Captain and stationed sixteen months in Korea. He later practiced as a dentist in Princeton, New Jersey for sixteen years before moving to West Liberty in 1974. He continued his dental practice in West Liberty until his retirement in 1998.
Warren was a member of the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty, as well as a member of The Gideons International for whom he was a gifted speaker. He was a former member and had served as President of the West Liberty Lions Club. He and Dr. Harry Graber sponsored the West Liberty Paradocs, a fast-pitch softball team for several years. He also loved to sing and was part of the West Liberty Choral Society for more than thirty years. Warren also enjoyed wood working, making furniture, toys, and miniatures.
Bishop George Bashore will officiate a Service of Resurrection Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at 6:30 P.M. at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty. No calling hours will be observed. Private interment will
be at the Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
The staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in West Liberty assisted the family with the arrangements.
