E. Jean (Hadley) Jones of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, June 14, 2013 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Bellefontaine to the late Donald Linton and D. Blanche (Sine) Hadley. She married William E. Jones February 2, 1952, in Richmond, Indiana and he preceded her in death March 25, 1991.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Susan Ranae (Robert) Lentz of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Bill (Catherine) Lentz of Cincinnati, Ohio and Kyle (Becky) Lentz of Bellefontaine, and a brother, Ronald E. (Judy Schrader) Hadley, also of Bellefontaine.
Jean enjoyed traveling with her family. She and her husband Bill traveled to many countries. Bill was in the Satan Angels Drum Corps and Jean followed him on all the road trips. To this day, she still loved drum corps competitions. Traveling to DCI Finals with her grandsons was a special time. Jean also enjoyed her poodles, named Chanel, working crossword puzzles and mushroom hunting.
Jean worked at Harringtons Office Machines, Sears Catalog Store, Mary Rutan Hospital where she was the payroll clerk, and also worked for Dr. Douglas Beach. She began working in the courthouse in the county auditor’s office in 1965. She was elected Logan County Auditor in 1982, and served through March 1995. She served as treasurer of the Republican Party since 1973, and was a life-member of the Harold Kerr Post #173 American Legion Auxiliary, where she previously served as president. Jean volunteered at the Presbyterian Church election day luncheon and the monthly dinners at the Prez.
Calling hours will be at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 4 to 8 P.M. where the funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Gene Marine officiating. Interment will be at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Bellefontaine.
