Earl L. Martz

Earl L. Martz, age 88, of Huntsville, Ohio passed away at 8:05 A.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Green Hills Community in West Liberty, Ohio. He was born in Richland Township Ohio July 2, 1929, to the late Eben and Mae (Rumer) Martz.

On June 14, 1947, he married Dorothy (Johnson) Martz in Bellevue, Kentucky and she preceded him in death February 27, 2016. Earl was also preceded in death by two infant great grandsons; sisters, Freeda Hanna and Virginia Swiger and brothers, Bernard Martz and Willard Martz.

Earl is survived by his children, Kim (Mike) Glock, Mike (Bev) Martz both of Huntsville, and Scott (Melissa) Martz of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Greg (Pat) Martz, Amy (Matt) Burns, Mandy (Steve) Oppy, Brian Glock, Emily Martz and Allison Martz; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Earl was a member of the Huntsville United Methodist Church. He owned and operated the IGA Stores in Jackson Center, Ohio and Huntsville for over thirty years. Earl was a truck driver for Ritter Brothers for twenty years, a McArthur Township trustee for twenty four years, on the Huntsville Village Council for eight years, and was an Indian Lake Local school bus driver for forty three years.  Earl was a fifty year member of the Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Bellefontaine Elks Lodge.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 5, 2018 from 10 A.M. to 12 noon at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine, with a Masonic Service taking place at 12:15 P.M.

Pastor Bryan Meadows will then officiate the funeral service at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral Home.

Burial will be at the Huntsville Cemetery.

The funeral arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Bellefontaine.
