Edna A. Wright, 95, of Lewistown passed away Friday, September 11, 2015, at The Gardens at Wapakoneta. She was born in Shelby County, Ohio on November 30, 1919, to the late Albert and Martha B. (Gross) Leininger. On December 18, 1938, she married Harold E. Wright; her husband of 70 years preceded her in death on December 21, 2008. Edna was also preceded in death by a son Virgil Wright, two great-grandchildren, an infant sister Goldie Leininger, a brother Virgil Leininger, and a niece Janet Teeters.
Edna was made part of God’s family through the waters of Holy Baptism on December 21, 1919, at St. Marks Lutheran Church. When Grace Lutheran Church was started, she joined with her parents as a charter baptized member. Edna was a homemaker and had spent time working at Doan Canning, Ted Fry Feed Mill, Sprague’s IGA, and Schilling Dentistry. She was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was a former Bible School and Sunday School teacher and held various offices. Edna was also active in women’s church groups and was a choir director of the church.
Edna was active as a Farm Bureau member and spent many years raising money for the American Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. She loved gardening, fishing, crocheting and most of all, being a Wife, Mom and Grandmother.
Edna is survived by her sons and their wives: Hershel and Deb Wright of Jackson Center, Merlin and Mary Wright of Bryan; daughter-in-law Kandy Wright Norton of DeGraff; grandchildren: Valerie Wright of Columbus, Dean (Christi) Wright of Huntsville, Jason (Lisa) Wright of Jackson Center, Brian (Krissy) Mullenhour of Anna, Sandra Roller of Jackson Center, Angie (Tim) Knapp of DeGraff, Mary (Brian) Davis of Lewistown, Sarah (Dean) Elliott of DeGraff, Amanda (Chuck) Mauk of Perrysburg and Ben (Kim) Wright of Angola, Indiana; eighteen great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; niece Betty Miars of Anna and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 4-8pm at Grace Lutheran Church, Jackson Center and on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 10-11am. Pastor Kent Hollis will officiate the funeral service at 11am at church. Burial will be in Plum Cemetery, Lewistown.
