Edward Munz

Edward G. Munz, age 98, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, June 13, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine surrounded by his children.

He was born in Akron, Ohio April 15, 1916, to the late Emil and Frieda (Scheidegger) Munz. Ed married the former Retha May Terrell June 3, 1939 in Akron, and she preceded him in death October 30, 2002. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Munz; sisters Frieda Hohenstein and Bertha Lowry; brothers Emil, Walter and Robert W. Munz Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Toots Munz and a nephew, Richard Munz.

Ed is survived by a daughter, Joyce Munz of Bellefontaine; a son, Wally (Pam McBrien) Munz of Bellefontaine; three grandsons, Scott (Kelli) LeVan, Bryan (Darla) LeVan and Kyle (Holly) Munz; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Alex), Kayla, Brock, Rylee, Baylie, Tucker and Kaiden G.; a great-great-grandson Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed came to Bellefontaine in 1952 and was the owner of The Dutch Mill with his brother Robert from 1952-1960. He also worked as a tool and die maker for many years retiring May 1, 1981 from D.A.B.

Ed was an avid bowler for eighty years and also enjoyed golfing. He bowled in many leagues and most recently, was bowling in the Senior League and the First Church of God League where he took home a team trophy this past December.

Pastor Floyd Lundy will officiate the funeral service Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 2 P.M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, where visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
