Edwin L. Arnett, 93, formerly of Bellefontaine, Ohio and currently of North Ft. Myers, Florida passed away Thursday evening, June 13, 2013 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida.
He was born in Jackson Center, Ohio December 15, 1919, to the late Logan and Sophia (Zwiebel) Arnett. On December 9, 1945, he married the former Margery June Pence in Jackson Center and she preceded him in death January 15, 1995. Ed was also preceded in death by an infant sister and a son-in-law, Doug Baron.
Ed is survived by his children, Richard “Dick” (Jan) Arnett of Bonita Springs, Florida and Susan Baron of North Ft. Myers, Florida; three grandchildren, Nathan (Lesley) Arnett, Shawn (Erin) Arnett and Lyndsay (Jake) Proctor; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Fasshauer of Bellefontaine and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps where he served during World War II and spent thirteen months as a prisoner of war in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Ed returned to Logan County and worked as a parts manager and mechanic at Alloway Sales and Service. He later worked in machine repair at Detroit Aluminum & Brass in Bellefontaine before retiring in 1976. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, playing bridge and watching sports. Ed was a life-member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Pastor Gene Marine will conduct a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. June 24, 2013, at the Highland Memorial Cemetery in West Liberty, Ohio where the Logan County Honor Guard will provide military honors.
The staff of the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine assisted the family with the arrangements.
