Edwin “Ed” J. Plank, 65, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and formerly of Turkey, North Carolina, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, in his home. He was born in Bellefontaine on December 1, 1943, a son of Alma Fern Headings Plank, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late John Philip Plank. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, Dan Dickinson.
On July 20, 2006, he married the former Armenthia Stull and she survives, along with a son, Edwin Jay (Paulette) Plank-Young of Ridgely, West Virginia; daughter, Erica “Suzie” (Dennis) Lee of Turkey; stepsons, Ernest (Jessica) Daw of Sanford, North Carolina, and Pvt. 1st Class David A. Goff Jr. of Bufort, South Carolina; stepdaughters, Teresa (Tony) Garcia of Clinton, North Carolina, and Veronica (Joshua) Mitchell and Hannah Adkins, both of Bellefontaine; brother, Gene (Connie) Plank of Bellefontaine; sisters, Susan (Rob) Weseloh of Cape Coral, Florida, and Joyce (Bob) Bazzle of Bellefontaine; and 15 grandchildren.
A 1961 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he attended Miami Jacobs Business College and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Turkey. He worked as a farmer, electrical engineer and was an independent trucker for Landstar, retiring in 2008.
An accomplished musician, he loved the piano. He also loved his flower garden and enjoyed cooking. Ed loved everybody he met.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine, and one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 A.M. Thursday, April 30, 2009, conducted by Pastor Howard Schmitt at the South Union Mennonite Church in West Liberty, Ohio. Interment is Saturday at the ESP Farm Cemetery in Turkey, North Carolina.
