Eleanor Meeker

Eleanor Louise Meeker, age 87, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away Friday morning, October 24, 2014 at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine.

She was born in Urbana, Ohio March 4, 1927, to the late Jeremiah and Fairy Agnes (Wright) Muth. She married Henry Junior Meeker in Springfield, Ohio in 1945, and he preceded her in death in 1970. Eleanor was also preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and a son, Richard “Eddie” Meeker.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Michael T. (Shirley) Meeker of Bellefontaine, Mary Patricia (Paul) Frost of Bellefontaine, Henry J. Meeker of Dayton, Ohio, Diane (Bob) Oliver of Bellefontaine and Douglas Anthony Meeker of Bellefontaine; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graduate of Urbana High School, Eleanor worked as a cook at O’Connor’s Landing and Beatley’s at Indian Lake, Ohio. She later worked at Copeland's. Eleanor was a member of the AmVets, Eagles and VFW and enjoyed doing charitable work through these organizations. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo, sewing and cooking. Eleanor loved her little dog, Peanut. Eleanor was also a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bellefontaine.

Calling hours will be held at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 2 to 4 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 27, 2014 at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bellefontaine at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery, in Urbana at 1 P.M.
