Elizabeth “Liz” Joann Herring, age 75, of Sidney, Ohio was surrounded by her family when she went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 22, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio January 11, 1942, to the late Earl Irvin and Viola Elizabeth (Pugh) Stayrook. Liz was also preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Maxine Aler and a brother, Robert “Bob” Stayook.
Liz is survived by the “Love of Her Life” Robert Stanley Herring, whom she married April 14, 1962 at the Belle Center Church of Christ. She is also survived by a son, Richard “Rick” (Gloria) Herring; a daughter, Teresa Herring; grandchildren, Elisa (Cameron) Klump, Erica (Stephen) James, Robert “Robbie” (Leesha) Herring II, Elizabeth Limotta, Savanna Limotta and Katelyn Beemer; great-grandchildren, Jadon, Landon and Makaylyn Klump, Bentley, Piper and Cooper James, Rosella and Raelyn Herring; siblings, Earl “Junior” Stayrook, Chris (Tom) Spain, Dorlean Guthrie, Betty Hennessy, Shirley Ritter, Sharyl Jackson and Phyllis (Kay) Hunt; a sister-in-law, Ruth Stayrook; brothers-in-law Ed (Genny) Herring and Joe (Ruth) Herring and numerous nieces and nephews.
A 1960 graduate of Rushsylvania High School, Liz worked nearly twenty years at Copelands in Sidney before retiring. She then went to work and retire from Sidney City Schools, where she was a head cook for many years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend, Liz loved the Lord, and enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sidney.
Visitation will be held at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Bellefontaine Monday, November 27, 2017 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. Pastors John Young and Tom Walters will officiate the funeral service Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville, Ohio.
