Elizabeth Ann Thatcher

Elizabeth Ann Thatcher went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Logan Acres Care Center surrounded by loving family.

She was born May 6, 1935, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late John Newell Freer and Emma May Jay Freer. She was a 1953 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and attended Ohio University.

Beth grew up on the family farm in rural Logan County, and on June 6, 1964, she married the love of her life, James William Thatcher. She enjoyed teaching art at several area High Schools before starting her family.

Well known for her sweet and kind nature, her Faith in Jesus was a leading part of her life. She loved flowers, art, color, design, nature, and homemaking, and she created layered fabric artworks with floral and nature themes. Beth made her home and everything around her beautiful.

A beloved and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, her family was her treasure and she especially loved spending time with her dear husband of 59 ½ years, and their grandson. Many joyful hours were spent attending their grandson’s baseball games, and with family at holidays and throughout each year. She enjoyed a long and wonderful life.

Beth is survived by her husband Jim, children Joseph (Lisa Wilder) Thatcher, and Rebecca (Joseph) Small, grandson Andrew Thatcher, sister Mary Jane Trimble Hickman, brother John Jay Freer, sister-in-law Diane (Richard) Thatcher, and much-loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in passing by her parents, brothers-in-law Glenn Trimble, Dick Hickman, Richard Thatcher, and sister-in-law Diane Freer.

Her family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers and staff at Logan Acres Care Center. Their care and friendship brought joy to her, and she loved and appreciated her time there.

Per her wishes, there will be no services.
