Emma L. Cloninger, 90, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at 6:40 P.M. Thursday, May 27, 2010 in her home. She was born December 10, 1919 in DeGraff, Ohio, to the late Joseph E. and Thelma Rebecca Young Jackson. On June 18, 1937 she married Donald E. Cloninger in Sidney, Ohio, and he preceded her in death February 6, 1980. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Thelma Marie Cloninger and Juanita Dunlevy; a son, Michael Cloninger; a grandson and granddaughter; four brothers, Robert, Bill, Paul and John Jackson; and a sister Kathryn Danner.
A homemaker and cook, Emma was a member of the Bellefontaine United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary Post 1080 in Bellefontaine and the Senior Citizens Group 2.
Survivors include five daughters; Nancy (Pete) Wolford of Dahlgren, Virginia, Kathryn (Skip) Sanford of Ocean Shores, Washington, Millie Stockdale of Bellefontaine, Ruth Fickey of Port St. Luci, Florida and Julie (Tom) Kellam of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sons, George “Corky” (Yoshiko) Cloninger of Antioch, California, Raymond (Marsha) Cloninger and Greg Cloninger, both of Bellefontaine; nineteen grandchildren; twenty one great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Eve Brenner of Bellefontaine and Helen Mohr of DeGraff; two brothers, Sonny (Charlotte) Jackson and Bud (Jeanean) Jackson, both of DeGraff, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 A. M. at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 4 – 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Logan County Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
