Emmett “Kelly” Welch, 50, of Lewistown, Ohio, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 17, 1958, the son of Emmett Welch Jr., who preceded him in death and Betty L. (Scott) Kinney, who survives in West Mansfield, Ohio.

He is also survived by his wife, Bobbie Jo (Ashcraft), whom he married on August 15, 1987 in Bellefontaine, Ohio; a son, Derek Welch and a daughter, Sheldon Welch, both at home; four brothers, David (Gerri) Welch of Zanesfield, Ohio, Dan Welch of Milford Center, Ohio, Mark (Laurie) Welch of Bellefontaine, and Jeremy Welch of Bellefontaine; three sisters, Roxanna (Dan) Abrams, Debbie (Bob) Keller of Bellefontaine, and Tammy (Ron Wilson) Welch of Bellefontaine; close friends, Gregg, Keith, Double, Jimmy, Tim, Johnson, and the Brother-in-Law and Sister-in-Law Clubs and his dog Winslow.

He worked as a concrete finisher for Link Construction Group in Bellefontaine and was a member of the V.F.W. #1080, Bellefontaine. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, playing pool in the garage, Shady Bowl, cooking for friends and family on Sunday, hanging out with Winslow, and most of all, he loved being a father to Derek and Sheldon.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Eichholtz Funeral Home in Bellefontaine with Rev. Kevin Smith officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
