Ernest E. Cantrell

Ernest E. Cantrell, age 78, of Quincy, Ohio passed away at 7:15 P.M. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in Davy, West Virginia April 22, 1940, to the late Robert E. Cantrell and Ethel (Sparks) Cantrell. Ernest was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Mavis (Huff) Cantrell; a son, Jeff Cantrell; a granddaughter, Melissa Leonard and brothers, Richard Cantrell and Rodney Cantrell.

On February 26, 1960, in Lebanon, Virginia he married Betty E. Newcomb and she survives.

He is also survived by his children, Robin King, Laura (Donald) Dalton, both of Quincy, and Scott (Kim) Cantrell of Tipp City, Ohio; grandchildren, Tonya (Shawn) Richardson, Josh (Melissa) King, Drew (Chelsey) Dixon, CPT Jeremiah King, Derrick (Jasmine) Cantrell, Daniel Cantrell, Blaine (Kerri) Dixon, and LCPL Lukeus Dalton; great grandchildren, Winnter, Hannah, Alivia, Zoey, Garrison, Liam, Blaire, and Grace; a great-great grandchild, Iris; sisters, Cindy Cantrell and Melissa (Paul) Mallett; brothers, Glen Cantrell and Tim (Jessica) Cantrell; many nieces and nephews and many special friends.

Ernest was a furnace operator at the Quincy Foundry for thirty six years.  He and Betty were members of the Solid Rock Pentecostal Church in Sidney, Ohio and recently were attending the Buckeye Gospel Barn in Quincy. Ernest was an outdoorsman. He loved to go fishing and hunting, and also enjoyed gardening. Attending church was a large part of Ernest and his family’s life. He did a lot of work behind the scenes at the churches he attended. All who knew and loved Ernest will miss him.

Pastor Bobbi Allen will officiate the funeral service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff, Ohio.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Quincy at a later date.

The arrangements are in the care of the staff of the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in DeGraff.
