Ernest “Dan” Richards, 61, of Bellefontaine, Ohio, passed away at his residence on Thursday, September 10, 2009. He was born on May 7, 1948, in Bellefontaine to the late Emil L. and Anna J. (Richardson) Richards.
He married Deborah Foulk on December 31, 1992 in Bellefontaine, and she survives along with a daughter, Kandi (Brian) Blakeslee of Orlando, Florida; two step-daughters, Renee (Rob) Jacobs and Christen (Ian) Bergey both of Bellefontaine; two brothers, John “Cleo” Richards of Middleburg, Ohio, and Chuck (Barb) Richards of Vinton, Ohio; three sisters, Nancy (Jim) King of Middleburg, Susie (Chuck) Coons and Karen Fryman both of West Liberty, Ohio; six grandchildren, Cole and Kenna Wedge, Matt, Joey and Sarah Jacobs, and Carson Bergey.
Dan worked for Penn Central Railroad as a brakeman and was a construction material salesman for the former PK Lumber Co. Dan was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He attended the New Richland Baptist Church and was a past member of Mad River Sportsman Club. He enjoyed shooting sporting clay and spending time with his family and his English Setters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the New Richland Baptist Church with Rev. Ron E. Sanderson officiating.
