Esther Mae Black, 88, of Bellefontaine passed away peacefully at 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Logan Acres Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on March 9, 1926 to the late Charles and Mabel (Easton) Allison.
On November 28, 1946 she married Robert Black and he preceded her in death in December 1998.
Esther is survived by her son, Dennis (Ann) Allison; two grandchildren, Jason (Kim) Allison and Hope (Dwight) Whipp; four great grandchildren, Samuel Allison, Hannah Whipp, Kacey Whipp and Leighanne Marcum; a great-great grandson, Lincoln Widmeyer; two sisters, Florence Strickland and Doris (Larry) Neff; two brothers, Russell (Maxine) Allison and Melvin (Evelyn) Allison; a sister-in-law Barbara Allison; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by infant children Lynn and Donald; a sister Bertha Curl; and a brother Roger Allison.
Esther worked in many different fields throughout her life, including her work as a grocery sales clerk. Her interests included playing the organ, oil painting, sewing and flower gardening.
Pastor Kym James will officiate a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff, Ohio. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
