Esther Jones

Biography

Esther S. Jones, 85, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday morning, December 8, 2011 at the Indiana University Health System, Goshen Hospital in Goshen, Indiana. Esther was born in Logan County Ohio October 14, 1926, to the late Abram and Alice Hartzler King. She married Claude E. Jones in Springfield, Ohio November 19, 1969, and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Harold and Sanford King and sisters Ruby Horst, Edna Millen and Helen Yates.

Esther was a life member of the Ohio Education Association and retired after 35½ years as an elementary teacher, including one year in the country of Columbia. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Goshen, Indiana and has lived at the Greencroft Retirement Center in Goshen since 2004.

Esther is survived by her son Dennis (Judy) Jones of Batavia, Ohio; sisters Isabelle Yoder of Seaford, Virginia, Ruth (Luke) Horst of Pennsylvania and Nancy (Hiram) Wood of Virginia; 2 grandchildren Ronald (Pamela) Jones and Karen (Greg) Wells; 5 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The funeral service will be held at the Kauffman-Eichholtz Funeral Home in West Liberty, Ohio Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 2:30 P.M. with her nephew, Rev. Tom Horst officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 1:30 P.M. Interment will be at the South Union Cemetery in West Liberty.
