Ethel Ruth Fry Murphy, 93, of West Liberty, entered rest, waiting on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at her home on Monday, August 24, 2015.
Ruth was born in Bellefontaine on September 21, 1921 to the late William Chandler and Florence Ethel (Rea) Fry. She married Ray C. Murphy on October 22, 1941 at the New Richland Baptist Church and he preceded her in death in 1973. Ruth was also preceded a brother, William David Fry; and three sons, Ray Eugene Murphy, Todd R. Murphy and Richard David Murphy.
Ruth was a 1939 graduate of Huntsville High School and attended Bowling Green State University. She loved to do volunteer work, having spent 30 years helping with the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild and 15 years volunteering with the Blood Mobile Nursery in Logan County. Ruth loved spending time in her garden and with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of West Liberty United Church of Christ.
Ruth is survived by a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, R.L. and Ruth Murphy of West Liberty; daughters-in-law, Betty Murphy of Decatur, Indiana and Karen Murphy of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Dana Murphy, Beth Gilligan, Bill Murphy, April Snider, T.R. Murphy, Tara Larson, Rich Murphy, Randi Murphy and Ryan Murphy; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held with a burial in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
The Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty assisted the family with arrangements.
