Evalyn (Park) Turner, 96, of West Liberty, passed away at Green Hills Care Center on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
She was born in Zanesfield on September 10, 1918 to the late Rev. James D. and Elizabeth (Peelle) Park.
On June 10, 1942 she married Fred Lewis Turner at the Goshen Friends Church in Zanesfield and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1990. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Henry E. Park.
Surviving are her children, Ruth (Wesley) Cosand of Pipersville, Pa., James E. (Kathy Bedard) Turner of Taccoa, Ga., David L. (Donna) Turner of Bellefontaine and Paul E. (Donna) Turner of Kissimmee, Fl.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A teacher for 30 years, Evalyn taught art, business and music. She taught in Indiana, Zanesfield and retired in 1984 from West Liberty Salem School.
A 1936 Monroe Twp. graduate, Evalyn attended the Morse Business College in Urbana and the Cleveland Bible College, now known as the Malone University. In 1941 she graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN.
Evalyn was an active member of the Mt. Carmel Friends Church. She taught Sunday school for several years, was the pianist and organist, and served on the official board. She was also a member of the Missionary Society and various other church committees. Evalyn also held a membership in the Green Hills Auxiliary Group and in the West Liberty Garden Club. Evalyn traveled with her husband, as long as he was able, and continued to enjoy traveling to other countries and in the United States.
Visitations will be on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring and Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty, Ohio where a 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 with one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in the Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church or any organizations within the church.
